Sheepskin Care

How do I wash my sheepskin slippers from The Leather Works?

All of our sheepskin slippers are machine washable! The process is the same, no matter the style of slipper.

If your style of slipper has a removable innersole, remove it so that all pieces can wash separately.

Wash your slippers in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water only. Use whatever mild soap or shampoo you
prefer. It can be helpful to wash your slippers with a few other items, like some towels.

Alternatively, you can hand wash your slippers in the sink, just be sure to use cold water, mild soap or shampoo, and avoid using wringing
or twisting motions.

Remove the slippers from the washing machine, reshape if necessary, and set them aside or hang them up to air dry. Lay the removable
innersole flat so that it dries flat.

It can take longer than you think for your slippers to dry entirely. Don’t be tempted to rush the process by using heat! Heat in the
wash water or drying process can damage the sheepskin.

The Princess and Royal styles have luxurious long wool cuffs. After washing, it’s nice to give the long wool a quick brush with a hairbrush to restore the fluff.

How do I wash my sheepskin hat from The Leather Works?

The process for washing hats is the same as the process for washing slippers.

Wash your hat in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water only. Use whatever mild soap or shampoo you prefer.

Remove the hat from the washing machine, reshape if necessary, and hang it up to air dry. If hanging it up is not an option, it can be helpful to set your hat on something tall and narrow, like a soda bottle, to get airflow to the inside of the hat.

Remember, don’t be tempted to rush the process by using heat! Heat in the wash water or drying process can damage the sheepskin.

The Aspen style of hat features a long wool brim. After washing, it’s nice to give the long wool a quick brush with a hairbrush to
restore the fluff.
